The Walter Swan Short Story Prize is being run in partnership with Leeds Big Bookend and the Northern Short Story Festival.
Entry is open to anyone over the age of 18, but you may only enter once.
There is no theme and entries can be on any subject.
Word limit is 2,000 words.
We regret that we will not read updated versions of the same story. Please only send us your story once.
Entries must be your own work, and must not have been published elsewhere.
The deadline for entries is October 6th 2017. All longlisted writers will have been contacted by March 2018 at the latest. All entrants will receive an automated response from Submittable confirming their entry has been received.
The longlisting process is anonymous. Please format your entry in Times New Roman in 12 point font, and make sure your name does not appear anywhere on your entry. Submittable allows us to match up writers to their work after the judging has taken place. Entries that do not conform to these rules will be disqualified.
